Doctors Without Borders uses AGA products in the new mobile surgery unit

12.03.2018

MSF is a private international medical aid organisation that provides emergency medical aid in crisis and war zones.

From 2 to 5 March 2018, MSF presented its brand new mobile war operation in Brussels (Belgium). This unit was designed to bring medical and surgical first aid to the front line as quickly as possible and to stabilise patients before transferring them to local hospital structures.

Médecins Sans Frontières present their way of working

The aim of this exhibition is to give the public an overview of the field work (the organisation is 99% funded by private donations). This structure of 10 to 12 containers can be fully assembled within 12 hours by a team of 6 technicians and 30 people recruited locally. This structure can be transported by plane, boat or lorry and is fully equipped as a hospital. It has autonomous water and electricity supplies and provides treatment of comparable quality to hospitals in Europe.

This mobile unit consists of various care and intervention stations including a triage room, pre-operative room, anaesthesia, operating theatre, pharmacy, sterilisation, recovery room and an intensive care unit.

MSF chooses AGA products for mobile units

MSF has selected the examination, treatment and recovery tables from the German manufacturer AGA Sanitätsartikel, which has been known for its quality products for over 40 years, with the aim of being able to position and examine patients in the best possible way. AGA products, whether examination tables, operating tables, stools, etc., are very robust and maintenance-free. The furniture is ideal for long periods of use and will last for many years. They are easy to disinfect and can withstand impacts. The ideal choice for the extreme environment in which MSF employees often work.

The first contact was made at MEDICA in Düsseldorf. From the presentation and selection of the products with on-site tests to the final implementation in the mobile units, MSF's logistics teams and AGA's sales team worked together effectively.
